The largest PV tradeshow in the world -- SNEC 12th (2018) International Photovoltaic Power Generation and Smart Energy Exhibition & Conference was successfully rounded off on May 30th, 2018.
SNEC2018, with the exhibiting space reaching 200,000 square meters, attracted over 2,000 exhibitors and over 260,000 visits from 95 countries and regions. It is especially worth mentioning about an increase of the number of visitors from many developing countries such as India, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Myanmar, Brazil, Chile, Ghana, South Africa, Saudi Arab ia, Pakistan and etc. It is out of doubt that with the largest numbers of exhibitors and visits, richness of exhibits that covers all sections of the PV industry chain, as well as the largest coverage in PV industry, SNEC has developed to be one of the most promising and influential PV tradeshows worldwide. SNEC2018 has also become the most popular grand gathering with the largest spot trading amount and the most releases of new products and new technology among the past eleven editions.
The variety of exhibit categories of this year is unprecedented. In order to promote the global cooperation of green energy industry, promote independent innovation ability of the industry, and positively response to the strategic requirements of constructing the Shanghai city to be an international science and technology innovation center put forward by the central government, the Shanghai Green Energy Innovation Center is launched jointly by Asian Photovoltaic Industry Association, Shanghai New Energy Industry Association, and some leading new energy enterprises, under the main platform of the Green Technology Bank established by the Ministry of Science and Technology and Shanghai municipal government. Its aim is to build a global operation network for green energy, establish an industrial academic alliance and form an open industrial service platform.
Mr Wu Xinxiong, Chairman of China Energy Research Society, former Vice Director of National Development and Reform Commission and former Director General of National Energy Administration, Mr Shi Dinghuan, Chairman of the 1st Organization Council of Shanghai Green Energy Innovation Center, and Mr Fu Guoqing, Chief Engineer of Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality together unveiled the nameplate for the Shanghai Green Energy Innovation Center.
To better promote the implementation of green energy technology innovation, demonstration and application, Shanghai Hongkou District government and Shanghai Green Energy Innovation Center signed a MOU to create green energy science and technology innovation platform. Mr Wan Jianhui, the Director of the Science and Technology Commission of Hongkou District, and Mr Jiang Wenzheng, Vice Chairman of the 1st Organization Council of the Shanghai Green Energy Innovation Center signed the MOU on behalf of each party.
The Shanghai Green Energy Innovation Center and the World Alliance for Efficient Solutions also held a cooperation signing ceremony. The World Alliance for Efficient Solutions was founded by Solar Impulse pilot Dr. Bertrand Piccard. Its recent development goal is to select #1000 efficient solutions to protect the environment in a profitable way, and to present the #1000 solutions Portfolio to governments, companies and institutions at COP24. The World Alliance for Efficient Solutions will work together with Shanghai Green Energy Innovation Center to collect those clean technology solutions from China and around the world, speed up the implementation of the clean and efficient technology, in order to protect the environment of China and the world.
The Scientific Conference provides an excellent platform for the world's PV experts and scientists to showcase and share the latest developments in solar energy technologies. The world's top PV scientists along with CTOs from leading PV companies join the International Scientific Committee. The Conference introduces and shares a wide scope of PV technologies, ranging from silicon feedstock, PV materials, cells, modules, systems and quality assurance to smart grid technologies.

Graphene has excellent performance in the field of optics, electric, thermal and force. In 2017, the development of graphene obtained further development in term of basic research and material preparation at home and abroad. Graphene has been deeply researched and applied in the fields of high-speed transistors, transparent electrodes, printed electronics, novel composite materials, ultrasensitive sensors, novel catalysts, gene sequencing and energy storage devices. Meanwhile, graphene industrialization has been rapidly promoted in our country. In 2016 and 2017, SNEC organized “The Application of Graphene in PV Industry and Energy Storage Technology Seminar”, supported by Tsinghua University, industrial alliance and industrial demonstration area. The seminar has become a valuable professional platform for the docking of photovoltaic industry and the new material industry, and has been affirmed by the industry for its academic and professional level.
SNEC 2018 “The Summit Forum on the Application of Graphene in PV Industry” focuses on the research, technology and industrialization of photovoltaic, energy, energy storage and sensors. The summit targets participants such as scholars, experts, and entrepreneurs in the graphene and photovoltaic industry to explore the application of graphene in the photovoltaic industry. It is co-organized by Tsinghua University and supported by industrial alliance and industrial demonstration area.
Distributed energy technology is an important developing direction of the future energy technology. "PV Poverty Alleviation" has become an important guideline in China to support agricultural modernization, to develop new countryside, and to improve farmers' life quality. For most islands, the energy remains as a key problem. SNEC organizes the 2nd edition of "Internet Plus” Smart Energy Technology and Application Seminar in 2018, which arounds the application of PV in energy industry. The Media Centers, which have been set up during the past five editions, have proved themselves as excellent platforms for enterprise promotion and communication bridges between the enterprises and the media. To improve the quality of interview, SNEC Organizing Committee organized a media team consisting of hundreds of media from home and abroad as well as a Joint Media Committee with more than ten industry mainstream media, invited persons in charge of the exhibiting enterprises as guests and employed professional videographers to record throughout the interview. This event is an important domestic attempt on the combination of exhibition and media promotion, and undoubtedly can greatly improve the added-value of SNEC.
To help exhibitors achieve best effects from the show and distinguish the most advanced technologies and products from others, it’s the eighth time for SNEC Organizing Committee to present “Top 10 Highlights” Awards, which has been welcomed and supported by the exhibitors and has become an indispensable highlight event for SNEC PV POWER EXPO.
The “Top 10 Highlights” Awarding Ceremony was held in Exhibition Hall N4 on May 30th. Having prepared for over 4 months, more than 100 exhibits are showcased in the expo. There are four categories of awards -- Terawatt Diamond Award, Gigawatt Gold Award, Megawatt Jadeite Award and Honorary Award. After a fierce competition and strict evaluation by professional judges, some companies participating in this activity received their own trophies and certificates which not only stand for honor, but also means that their excellent exhibits were highly spoken of by professional visitors.
Having been hosted for many editions, the selection has been widely recognized and well received and has become a major stage for showcasing new products and technology in the sector.
